ok im 18 years old and i have started to shave properly all over my face using a conventional blade (gillette).i want my baby face again and i have started to know that my skin is getting unclear, rashes etc. cos of the shaving,. and i do shave properlym with the after shave balms and shaving foam. i dont want thick stubby facial hair, so would it be better if i go for on of those Philips shavers (philishave, maybe the coolskin one)?? are these philishaves more healthy for the skin, and make your facial hair grow back more fine and thin?
Shaving help for asian(indian) skin??
The problem might not be with the razor, but with the type of foam/gel that you are using. I am of mixed race (my mother is from Sri-Lanka) and I have extremely thick hair. I have found the best shaving supplement to be Oil of Olay. I always shave in the shower so my skin (and razor) are nice and warm and I can wash all the scum clean off afterwards. I find that normal foam/gel doesn't moisturise the skin and can lead to an uncomfortable shave. I know a fair few men that dislike conventional shaving foam and shave using various 'pseudo-foams'. The strangest one I ever heard was peanut butter! Experiment and you'll eventually find something that works for you.

I'm really sorry, kid, but the older you get, the thicker your facial hair gets, until it reaches its optimum thickness. There's no escaping that. When I was your age--actually a couple of years younger--I didn't want to shave so that my facial hair wouldn't thicken, but eventually I had to face reality: we grow older, never younger.
Later I found out facial hair is cool. Unfortunately for me, mine doesn't grow evenly--there are spots were hair doesn't grow. I grew it for six months once thinking it would even out eventually, but it remained uneven, so, I shave--usually daily.
To deal with the rashes, you probably have to see a dermatologist, if using hypoallergenic foams and aftershave balms do not work out. The unscented stuff are usually less likely to cause rashes. Keep your shaving paraphernalia clean--the rash may be caused by leaving your shaver unwashed. Wash razors under running water. For electronic razors, brush off the stubble and dirt accumulated inside the shaver head.
Another factor may be the lattitude you're in. I live in the tropics and don't usually have problems, except that I have to live with oily skin. When I visit temperate countries such as England or the States, after a few days, I get flaky skin--like dandruff, except it's not on my scalp but practically all over, particularly the face and my extremities (arms, legs, especially my elbows, hands). The first time it happened, after a couple of weeks I found out from another Asian I should use a moisturizing skin lotion. It takes care of my skin flakes when I'm in some temperate country. Again, you may need to use a hypoallergenic or unscented kind.
